Description:
S800 I/O is a comprehensive, distributed and modular process I/O system that communicates with parent controllers and PLCs over industry-standard field buses. The CI840 Fieldbus Communication Interface (FCI) module is a configurable communication interface that performs operations such as signal processing, gathering of various supervision information, OSP handling, Hot Configuration In Run, HART pass-through and configuration of I/O modules. CI840 is designed for redundant applications.
The CI840 is part of ABB 800xA control system module. The FCI connects to the controller by way of the PROFIBUS-DPV1 fieldbus. Module termination units to use, TU846 with redundant I/O and TU847 with non-redundant I/O module.
ABB invented and manufactured a wide range of products and technologies, including three-phase power transmission systems, global self-cooling transformers, high-voltage direct current transmission technology and electric industrial robots, and took the lead in commercializing them. ABB has the widest product line, including a full range of power transformers and distribution transformers, high, medium and low voltage switchgear products, AC and DC transmission and distribution systems, power automation systems, various measuring devices and sensors, real-time control and optimization system robot hardware, software and simulation systems, energy-saving motors and transmission systems, power quality, conversion and synchronization systems, fuses and switchgear to protect the safety of power systems. These products have been widely used in industry, commerce, power and utilities.
It is compatible with a wide range of ABB devices as well as third-party devices, allowing for the seamless integration of different automation components. The CI840 module supports redundant configurations for enhanced system reliability and availability. Redundancy can be achieved by using two CI840 modules in a redundant pair. The module supports hot-swapping, which means it can be replaced or inserted into the system without disrupting the operation of other devices or the control system. The CI840 module provides detailed diagnostic information, such as signal strength, communication status, and module health, which aids in troubleshooting and maintenance.
